General instructions

  • The poster should be no larger than DIN A0 (841 x 1189 mm) and no smaller than A1.
  • Orientation of the poster must be portrait style.
  • Providing A4 takeaway versions of your poster is also encouraged.
  • Apply the KISS principle: ‘Keep it Short and Simple’

 Title and headings

  • The title should quickly orientate the audience on the subject, your name and affiliation. The title should be 3.5 – 4.5 cm tall, short and catchy, maximally 12 words.
  • Specific sections (e.g. methods, results) should be easy to locate on the poster. Select an outstanding font (size and color) for section headings.

 Font size

  • The poster should be easily readable at a distance of 2m. Font size of text blocks should preferably ≥24 and ≥48 for headings.
  • Don’t mix fonts, choose one font for all text blocks in the entire poster.

 Figures and Graphs

  • Figures are highly preferred above Tables.
  • Graphs or tables should be self-explanatory and therefore please provide a clear legend including symbols. Put legends above a table and below a figure.

Please avoid:

  • Including too much text.
  • Too many different colors.
  • Using a font size that is too small.
  • Chaotic design, directional flow of information is not clear.
  • Figures and tables are not self-contained, they cannot be understood independently.
